Thrill Slides at the Mayan Temple

The temple hosts four distinct water slides, ranging from high-thrills to family-friendly.

  • Leap of Faith: This is the temple’s signature slide. It features a 60-foot, near-vertical drop from the top of the temple. Riders are propelled at high speed through a clear acrylic tunnel submerged in a lagoon filled with marine life, including sharks.
  • Serpent Slide: This is a five-story corkscrew tube slide that sends riders twisting and turning through the temple’s dark core. It culminates in a leisurely pass through a clear underwater tunnel, offering views of the surrounding marine lagoon.
  • Challenger Slides: These are twin high-speed racing slides. Guests can challenge a friend, sliding down parallel tracks. A digital clock at the bottom posts a rider’s speed to determine the winner.
  • Jungle Slide: An open-air body slide that winds its way through the landscaping and caves built into the temple’s exterior. It does not have any sudden drops, making it an ideal choice for younger riders or those seeking a milder thrill.

The Rapids River

This is not a traditional lazy river. The Rapids River is a one-mile-long loop with high-intensity waves, wave surges, and elevations that push riders through the park’s landscape. It includes sections of powerful white-water rapids and drops of up to seven feet.

Visitor Requirements

  • Height Requirements: To ride the Leap of Faith, Serpent Slide, Challenger Slides, and all slides on the Power Tower, guests must be at least 48 inches (122 cm) tall.
  • Rapids River: Participants under 48 inches are permitted but must be able to support themselves in the inner tube. Infants and toddlers are not permitted.
  • Access: Access to Aquaventure is included for overnight guests of Atlantis. Day passes are available for purchase for visitors from cruise ships and other hotels, subject to availability.

Mayan Temple Pool and Cabanas

At the base of the iconic structure is the Mayan Pool, one of the 14 pools within Aquaventure. This area is a central location for families to relax and enjoy the views of the temple.

For guests seeking a private retreat, Mayan Temple Cabana Atlantis rentals are available nearby. These private shaded areas provide a convenient home base for families and groups, offering a place to relax between slides. The Mayan Temple Pool Atlantis area is one of the most popular spots in the entire water park.

Beyond the Temple: Other Aquaventure Highlights

While the Mayan Temple Bahamas is a main draw, Aquaventure features several other major attractions.

The Power Tower

This 120-foot tower is the launch point for several other high-intensity slides.

  • The Abyss: A 200-foot-long body slide that begins with a 50-foot vertical drop into total darkness.
  • The Surge: An inner tube ride that drops from the top of the tower, featuring a camel-back drop into a cavern and ending in white-water rapids.
  • The Falls: A water-roller-coaster slide accessible from the tower’s center, dropping riders 58 feet before propelling them up and through twisting tubes.
  • The Drop: A single or double-tube ride that starts with a drop through a dark, enclosed tunnel before twisting into the open air and splashing into the Rapids River.
